That's a fair question!
Here's a short list:
1. Health: Lowered cholesterol. Losing weight
by burning it off and converting some fat into muscle.
2. Looks. Slim. Sculpted legs, sturdy shoulders.
Nice, sun-touched face and limbs.
3. Sanity. If you're prone to stress and /
or the "blues" (depression), try a daily run. For many people,
running is a wonderful alternative to a therapist (at very least,
a helpful addition to one!).
4. Good feelings. The trail awaits. The sun
shines (well, sometimes running in the rain is great, too!). And what
a quiet way to shake the cobwebs out of mind and body, to absorb nature,
and to feel the rhythms of the body and the earth around. Or take
your headset along and get in some music!
5. Accomplishment. There are two kinds of
people. Those who can say, "I ran 26.2 miles and finished"
-- and those who cannot. Need it be said which group is smaller? Now
is your chance to grow that group by one.
6. Team CCO gives you the added sense of accomplishing
something beyond the wonder of finishing your race. You will personally
contribute to Cornerstone Community Outreach's efforts to aid America's
homeless families.
Got some more you want to add to the list?
